General The Peaks & Prairies GCSA Legacy Award competition offers educational aid to the children and grandchildren of Peaks & Prairies GCSA members. The Peaks & Prairies Golf Course Superintendents Association, at their discretion, administers the awards and determines the dollar amounts each year.

The Peaks & Prairies GCSA Scholarship Committee will review applications. All decisions of the committee will be final. Scholarship recipients will be announced during the Peaks & Prairies GCSA Fall Meeting & Trade Show, and the scholarship check with a letter of acknowledgement will be mailed by December 15. All scholarship award checks will be made payable to the applicant.

Eligibility
- One or more of the applicant’s parents or grandparents must be a Peaks & Prairies GCSA member and currently active for at least 12 months in one of the following classifications: AA, A – Golf Course Superintendent, B- Golf Course Superintendent, C- Assistant Golf Course Superintendent, D-Allied, F-Associate or G-Honorary Life. The competition is open to natural or adoptive offspring of Peaks & Prairies GCSA members. Children and grandchildren of deceased members are also eligible if the member was currently active at the time of his or her death.
- The student must be enrolled full-time at an accredited institution of higher learning, or in the case of high school seniors, must be accepted at such an institution for the next academic year. Graduating high school seniors must submit a letter of acceptance. as well.
- Past winners are eligible to apply the following year.
- Although any number of students from the same family may apply, only one student per family will be eligible to receive an award.
Criteria for Selection
- Applicants will be evaluated based on academic achievement, extracurricular and community involvement, leadership and outside employment.
- The student’s composition of an original 500-word essay on their future plans and any topic relating to the golf course industry. The essay must be original and not previously submitted to Peaks & Prairies GCSA.
- Financial need is not a factor in the selection.
- In the event that the Scholarship Committee feels that there are no qualified applicants during any given year, the award may be withheld during that year.
How to apply
- Application must be typed, and dated.
- Transcripts from all high schools and/or colleges attended (which ever is most recent institution).
- Typed original essay.
- Graduating high school seniors must submit proof of collegiate acceptance.
- Completed application form and required documents must be received in the Peaks & Prairies GCSA office no later than September 20.
